Just checking: has anyone figured out how to mount the 700Cx44 Compass Snoqualmie Pass tires with full fenders?  I doubt that it is possible, but still wishing :-)

I have - it is possible! I have a 63cm 700c Rambler with 50mm Berthoud fenders. I'm running Compass Snoqualmie Pass tires on Velocity A23 rims. This is a fast and plush setup! I will note that the gap is less than ideal but no problems in the ~1K miles I've ridden since installation. YMMV

Here are 2 photos: 1 of me finishing a recent ride with the 700c x 44 Compass tires and 2. A close-up of the fit.

Thanks, David!  Did you do anything special with your Berthoud fenders  at the chain stays?  That seems to be the tightest spot to my untrained eye...

I have not pushed it with tires over 41mm and fenders, but if I were, I would use the VO zeppelin fenders and Berthoud hardware for max clearance inside and out on the fender.  it will still be tight, but get you the most space and still fit between the pivots on the Paul Racer.  I shape my zeppelins at the chain stays, but that is primarily because I am really anal about the details and having the fender just clear, zero rub on frame etc.

I really wish there was a 700x55mm fender on the market.  The 60mm Berthoud could be made to work if you are willing to put the time into shaping it around all the "tight" spots.  it is acutely on my list of things to do someday when I have too much time.

I just put the calipers on and the Snoqualmie Pass tires measure 41.05mm at 45psi. These are mounted on Velocity A23 700c rims. The clearance at the chainstays is around 8.5mm; that works for me. I will note that the occasional adherent rock can cause a fender scrape sound but that's pretty uncommon, even on gravely routes. If you go this route, I would recommend checking all the fasteners on the fenders. Even a misaligned leather washer can warp the fender and you'll need consistent tolerances all round.
