Greetings!
As it says in your topic window, School of Leaders will meet a week from this coming Saturday on April 8 at Holy Family Cathedral, 566 South Glassell Street, Orange following 8:15 Mass. The session normally begins around 9:00 and ends at 11:00.
April is dedicated to a set of presentations by our Spiritual Director, Deacon Doug Cook, and our Lay Director, Nick Williams. Deacon and Nick will be presenting explanations of how the structure of Cursillo works. They will be covering the issues of the functions of our Secretariat, the relationship of Cursillo to the Diocese, and how the principles of Cursillo guide these divisions of our movement.
I'm still thinking about last month's presentation by Manny Castro of the Formation (Study) Rollo he did more than ten years ago. I feel badly that not everyone who works weekends got a chance to see his talk; the language of the rollo was dynamic. When Manny got introduced the speaker mentioned how every great movie has a tagline: an "offer you can't refuse;" "this is the beginning of a great friendship;" or "I was born ready." Manny had a couple of phenomenal lines for study: before he did his Cursillo he was a sports fan, but after Cursillo he became a fan of his faith, or "Cursillo made me realize I had to worry more about my kids than the powertools I was angry with them for using."
Deacon Doug enjoyed one of Manny's acronyms: Family: Forget About Me, I Love You. It's really hitting for extra bases when you can put something in that is both on point and a phrase Doug hasn't heard in that Rollo before. Good job, my old friend.
I think most of the men who heard his talk came away with a better understanding of Study, both as part of the Tripod and as a topic to be presented in a rollo. Thanks again, Manny, for the best Study Rollo of all time.
I'll look forward to seeing all of you on the 8th.
In Christ,
Don Hunsberger
