WHO: First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington (top of Church Street, 152 Pearl Street)
WHAT: Banner-raising event and march on Church Street
WHEN: Sunday, April 15th, 2012, 10-11am
Where: Top of Church Street (152 Pearl Street)
WHY: Justice!

The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington has asked me to invite all of Occupy, VIA, and any other supportive groups to their banner-raising event   WE STAND FOR ECONOMIC JUSTICE   on Sunday April 15th, 10-11am, at the Meetinghouse, 152 Pearl Street, top of Church Street, Burlington.

A community vote showed an overwhelming mandate for a public statement and action about this issue. And given that the celebration is going to be between services, I expect a couple hundred enthusiastic people to be present and marching. I would like to see Occupy enjoying the energetic support of our larger community. Let the community be our People's Mic, as we have been for the community, raising our voices for all to hear. Please come!

They plan a family-friendly, fun event with a march on Church Street to follow. Children will be bringing musical instruments and homemade banners for the march, and chalk for Occuchalking on UU property. Please come! Bring your own banners and signs, voices, food, musical instruments, songs, and dances! Anything your heart guides you to contribute will be welcome.

This will be a second step in a long-term commitment to actively building a more just and loving society, The first step was offering Occupy Burlington official Sanctuary after the tragedy in City Hall Park last November. Their hearts are joyful and strong, like ours: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIYMLR_DGWU

The UU has a 200+ year history of community activism: anti-slavery, protection of children and animals, women's rights, civil rights, GLBT rights, immigration rights. Now, they are turning their hands and hearts to economic justice.

Please forward this invitation to other Occupy groups, community groups, and anyone you think will be supportive and interested in a fun event!
