Waxman town hall meeting on Thursday

Pissed off about HR347 and the NDAA?  Don't want to go to war with Iran?  Want the government out of our uteruses (uteri?) and into providing single payer health care? Then come to the West LA Dem Club town hall with Congressman Henry Waxman Thurs. at 7 pm at St. Bedes' Church, 3590 Grand View Blvd, Mar Vista.  We've got an ally on the Dem Club who is going to make sure all our questions get asked and answered.  Otherwise we mic check.  Join your friends from Occupy Venice and the Westside Progressives in what promises to be an exciting evening.

We consensed on the questions several GAs ago.  Please do not let this rare opportunity to confront the man who will now be Venice's representative in the US Congress slip by.  We have a friend on the board of the De, Club who is going to make sure our questions get asked and answered.  Otherwise, we mic check.  I know it's a GA night.  But as I said, these public opportunities don't come around that often.  Many of the goals of the OWS movement deal with issues that can only be solved through Congressional action be it restoring Glass Steagall, nationalizing the Fed, overturning Citizens United, etc.  

So as much as I see the greatest chance for success in our movement by acting locally and building the kind of society we seek, we cannot ignore the fact that we started as a protest movement, and we cannot ignore national politics.  

I hope we can meet a half an hour early there at the church to plan our strategy.  So please respond to me if you are planning to attend.
