Hi,
I sent this but only got two replys. The Strategic Planning WG will propose this on Thursday to be adpted as our OV Mission Statement to go on the website and so on. We [proposed it before but people wanted to look it over in print. So now Thursday we will come to consenses. Speak now or forever hold your peace!

Hi,
Here's the Mission Statement for OV that the Strategic Planning WG painstakingly worked out. It's not perfect but pretty damned solid.
We would love to hear all your feedback, absolutely! Especially if you see a glaring oversight or mistake please, please say something.
(A heads up, though, once you get into being all nit picky with this stuff it can take forever!)
Please look it over, sit with it, nibble it, and post your thoughts if you want. We'll be revisiting this on Thursday so definitely bring 'em to the GA!
The ST WG is not trying to tell you what we think it should be, as much as trying our hardest to pick up on the basic vibe of the group. No politics, we just want it to be good. Soon.

Here ya go:

Occupy Venice is a people-powered, peaceful movement dedicated to addressing our country's most systemic problem: the control of the few over the many through political corruption due to corporate greed. In order to create a world based on fairness, equality, freedom, justice, peace, compassion and the protection of nature, we are demonstrating against the destruction of our democracy, economy and environment, stopping the machine that perpetuates that destruction, educating others about this injustice, and empowering them to take action against it. We are creating a sustainable, cooperative community in Venice as a working model of the society we envision.

Another rendition:
Occupy Venice is a people-powered, peaceful movement dedicated to addressing our country's most systemic problem: the control of the few over the many through political corruption due to personal and corporate greed. In order to create a world based on fairness, equality, justice, peace, compassion, freedom, and the protection of nature, we are demonstrating against the destruction of our democracy, our economy and our environment, we are stopping the machinery that perpetuates that destruction, we are educating others about this injustice, and empowering them to take action against it as we design empowering, inclusive solutions. Occupy Venice is actively creating a sustainable, cooperative community as a working model of the society we envision.

Check it out!

Cheers,
Deborah
