Happy Thanksgiving - Giving Thanks through Spreading Peace

The holiday of Thanksgiving, as we all know, marks a period of history that resulted in the slaughtering of thousands of Native Americans, the stealing and pillaging of their land, and the spreading of disease among their people.  However, it also marks a unique opportunity for us to discuss peace and justice in various settings with individuals outside our typical audience.  To many people, this holiday has come to represent the values of gratitude, reflection, and peace. The holiday season opens the hearts of people and can allow a seed to be planted within them.  As peacemakers, we can use this time of year to spread the VFP message.

Obama Extends War in Afghanistan

Submitted by Peace activist, Kathy Kelly
News agencies reported Saturday morning that weeks ago President Obama signed an order, kept secret until now, to authorize continuation of the Afghan war for at least another year. The order authorizes U.S. airstrikes “to support Afghan military operations in the country” and U.S. ground troops to continue normal operations, which is to say, to “occasionally accompany Afghan troops” on operations against the Taliban.<More>

We all have a calling in life, it is time we realize our potential. We must rise to realize our greatest selves. Educate the people about the true costs of war in all of its forms. "Rise" is a resistance anthem, featuring fellow veteran (Army) Guy Ron Solero Vanterpool, highlighting the album's overall theme of peace and resistance.

You can download the song for free
