I'm updating myself on social media features, tools and basic strategy
knowledge and thought I would post this for anyone who may be
interested in knowing it.
Twitter Algorithm Factors
1. Number of Followers: More followers leads to a higher Twitter
measurements but {read #2}
2. Power of Followers: If you have people with a high Twitter
measurements following you, it counts more favorably for you than
those with low measurements following you.
3. Updates: More updates generally leads to a higher measurement but
within reason. This does not mean a Tweeter (someone who uses
Twitter) should be tweeting like a manic squirrel cranked up on
caffeine. It won’t help either the Twitter measurement or your
overall happiness.
4. Update Recency: Users that are more current (i.e. time elapsed
since last tweet is low) generally get higher grades.
5. Follower/Following Ratio: The higher the ratio, the better.
However, the weight of this particular factor decreases as the user's
measurements in other areas increase. Once a user gets a high level
of engagement, the Follower/Following ratio counts less.
6. Engagement: The more a given user’s tweets are being retweeted,
the more times the user is being referenced or cited, the higher the
twitter measurement. Further, the value of the engagement is higher
based on who is being engaged. In other words, if a user with a very
high Twitter measurement retweets, it counts more than if a spammy
account with a very low grade retweets.
7. Follow influencers, After following the influencer, take a peak
into their follower list. Then select active and relevant accounts to
follow.
8. Use Hastags when posting events, call to actions and sharing
knowledge
