Whole Foods suspended Ryan, a cook, without pay on October 23, just 4 days after 16 workers at the Jamaica Plain store petitioned for a $1/hr raise, in response to crushing workloads. The employees also asked for improvements in conditions, such as constant high temperatures, which were making some of them sick. Ryan's was the first name on the petition. On October 30, Ryan was terminated on flimsy pretexts!

Please join Ryan's supporters today (Saturday), starting at 4 pm, at a picket of the JP Whole Foods, 413 Centre Street (Jackson Square or Stonybrook T on the Orange Line). Let's show Whole Foods we won't tolerate retaliation against workers who take group action to improve their wages and working conditions! You can also call Whole Foods' regional office at (617) 492-5500 to say that Ryan should be rehired.

This protest is sponsored by the Student Labor Action Movement (SLAM). Please forward this message as widely as possible, and feel free to reply if you would like to join the fight to get Ryan reinstated.
