On Tuesday, April 8, at 10:00 am, Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton will be speaking on the House Floor about DC Statehood, and I think some of us should be in the House Gallery. If you want to join me in the Gallery, let me know by noon on Monday, so that I can get you a pass. (hart...@verizon.net) She will also be speaking "on Thursday afternoon, when extended time is permitted.”
On Tuesday, Democratic Senators also gather for lunch, and we can greet them and give them information about DC Emancipation Day and our advocacy for DC Statehood. I hope you will want to do that as well. Attached is what we will be handing the Senators.
From the attached flyer:
We continue to seek support for HR 292 and S.132, the New Columbia Admission Act, which will give all the people of DC the full measure of freedom that the residents of the 50 states enjoy. On Emancipation Day, April 16, we will be grateful to Senator Tom Carper and the Senators who are co-sponsoring S. 132--Barbara Boxer, Sherrod Brown, Benjamin Cardin, Chris Coons, Richard Durbin, Kirsten Gillibrand, Tom Harkin, Tim Kaine, Barbara Mikulski, Patty Murray, Harry Reid, Bernie Sanders, Chuck Schumer, and Elizabeth Warren. And we will hope that more Senators soon sign on to full rights, i.e. statehood for the people of DC.

Thanks, Andrea. I spent Friday lobbying for DC Vote on the Hill, and have had enough of Congress for the moment. This should be good. Eleanor gave us a good harangue mid-day Friday!
Best,
Bill

Simply noting her take on the odds against us and the utility of our spreading education among staffers nonetheless. She gave us a strong message of keeping on keeping on. She had exactly 10 minutes before a TV interview, so nothing extensive....
Andrea - We discussed budget autonomy, legislative autonomy, and statehood, and had fact sheets discussing all 3 (including information on the 2 companion bills for the New Columbia Admission Act) that we left with staffers.
