On April 16th, our historic day, Washingtonians have a chance to stand up for the full rights we deserve. It has become a tradition for the DC Statehood Coalition to observe the day in 1862 when over 3,000 enslaved African Americans were set free by visiting Congressional offices and advocating for our statehood legislation, the New Columbia Admission Act, which will at last give the residents of DC all the rights that people in the 50 states enjoy. If you can join us this year, on the afternoon of Thursday, April 16th, contact Elinor Hart at
202-387-2966 or
