AMERICAN POPULIST MOVEMENT: COOPERATIVE COMMONWEALTH OR FASCIST
NIGHTMARE?
Thursday, January 26, 7-9pm
CHAM Ministries Office, 949 East San Fernando St., San Jose, CA 95116
This class will review the history of the 19th century American
populist movement and how the ruling class subverted it to establish
the Jim Crow system. We will use this history to think about the
political lessons for activists today. This learning space is shared
with a Christian ministry. We encourage other people of faith to join
us in these political conversations.

NON-HIERARCHICAL LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP
Saturday, January 28, 8:30am-5:00pm
San Jose Peace & Justice Center, 48 South 7th Street, San Jose, CA

As we move away from a worldview based on domination and exploitation,
we will manifest new ways of relating to people and to Nature. In the
process, we will develop new leadership roles for a more collaborative
future. Join us for a class that focuses on new forms of leadership
that build our capacity to empower and collaborate with others.

San Jose Peace & Justice Center, 48 South 7th Street, San Jose, CA

In this session we will continue our discussion from last week to look
into the root causes of today’s difficulties. There are both
historical and structural reasons why the economy has experienced the
tightening of credit, lower asset valuations, and increasing
inflation. We will quickly see that today’s crisis is far more than
“just a sub-prime mortgage problem."

needs when communicating, which is the core work of Nonviolent
Communication.
