We have all experienced profound loss during our lives: the loss of family and friends, homes, and jobs are just some examples. Recently, the financial crisis and wars have brought a greater degree of loss to our communities. People in growing numbers have lost homes, jobs and financial security, or they have lost loved ones who have been serving our country abroad. This support group will offer a caring space to voice your feelings and discover that you are not alone.

We will spend approx 30 minutes agreeing on targets and tactics, then march to a financial institution in downtown San Jose. Action will end around 6pm when banks close. Bring: Signs, literature, noisemakers, cameras, & smart phones.

OccupySJ's Video Collective invites you to our FILM NIGHT! We are screening "The Power of Community", a 53min doc about rebuilding Cuba following the collapse of the Soviet Union. The film speaks to the power of people coming together to remake their society.

Will Rogers famously quipped "I am the member of no organized political party, I'm a Democrat." Conservatives in the US, however, have been very well organized in terms of message and tactics. In this talk we'll trace the origins of the conservative infrastructure systematically built since the 1964 Goldwater defeat, lavishly funded by corporations in general and the fossil fuel industry in particular. We'll see how money and information flows between politicians, lobbyists, think tanks, "astroturf" and industry front groups, political operatives, as well as lawyers and judges to protect the interests of the 1%.
