OCCUPY THE BANKS!

Join the growing movement to hold banks accountable and end corporate greed

December 12, 2011

Time: 4pm-6pm

Where: Bank of America & Wells Fargo at Cityview Plaza, 121 Park Center Plaza, San Jose, CA 95113. On S. Market St. between Park Ave. & San Fernando St.

What: Rally, march and bank delegation

Why: Banks have been profiting by their unethical practices that have caused great grief to our families and communities. Join us in demanding for Bank of America and Wells Fargo to stop their investment in detention centers (CCA and Geo Group) who are making millions off the separation and incarceration of immigrants, end their support of anti-immigrant policies and politicians (more information on Dec. 11 “Detention Centers & Big Banks - Documentary Showing & Teach-In” (info below)), and for them to let people keep their homes.

Detention Centers & Big Banks - Documentary Showing & Teach-In

Sunday, December 11, 2011

Time: 4:00pm -6:00pm

Where: San Jose Peace & Justice Center (48 South 7th Street, San Jose)

Occupy Oakland has called for a West Coast Port Shutdown on December 12. The Occupy San Jose Ad-Hoc Unity Group & People’s Classroom will be joining a coalition of grassroots organizations in protest actions on December 12 to support the West Coast Port Shutdown, workers rights, and to protest the destruction of Occupation sites across the country. The December 12 action will call attention to Wells Fargo and Bank of America’s investment in detention centers, and the deportation of our local community members.

To prepare for this action and raise awareness, we will show "Lost In Detention," a one-hour PBS Frontline documentary on the detention centers, and their impact on US democracy. In addition “Immigrants for Sale”- a short documentary that highlights the links between corporations and anti-immigrant lobbying. This will be followed by a teach-in and discussion on detention centers and big banks.

Event is co-sponsored by the Occupy San Jose Ad-hoc Unity Group & the People's Classroom.

Suggested Donation: $0-10 fundraising for the San Jose Peace & Justice Center. No one turned away for lack of funds.
