Our bill, the We the People Resolution (S.2243) might come to a vote in the Massachusetts Senate as soon as today (Thursday).
There is talk of changing the bill to remove the call for an Article V amendment-proposing convention, and merely asking Congress to propose an amendment to overturn Citizens United v. FEC. That would be unacceptable. Massachusetts already passed a resolution six years ago asking Congress to propose the amendment we urgently need, but Congress has not acted. It’s time to “up the ante” and call for an Article V convention to propose the amendment to SAVE our democracy..
Please call your state senator on this morning or email them, and ask him or her to please oppose any amendment and pass the We the People Resolution (S.2243) as proposed.
Attached materials will help you make the case for why this is so important.
Thank you so much for your ongoing dedication to saving our democracy.
Sincerely,
Kathy Lique
