2. Cultural text analysis collection
We talked on the last call about consolidating data for the text/visual/audio/video analysis in one place. I created a Tumblr page, where you can anyone can submit and share links: http://occupyrace.tumblr.com/. Dalida will be explaining more the theory and praxis of this approach in our next call.
3. Conference proposals
We also talked about what our desired outcomes for this research project are. Some of us are interested in cowriting papers or copresenting at conferences. To that end, the deadline for submitting panels for the ASA annual meeting is next Wed., 1/11. This year's theme is Real Utopias, much of seems very relevant to our collective work. See: http://asanet.org/AM2012/meeting_theme.cfm. The meeting is in Denver, CO, 8/17-8/20. Would folks be interested in coproposing a panel and/or workshop session? Since we won't be talking by phone before 1/11, email me if you are interested. And, send out other deadlines for paper or conference calls, if you know of them.
