Dear Poets,
I just received a note from Katherine Ball & Yoko Silk about involving
poets & musicians tomorrow's Occupy the Banks (see below).

Perfect!

Who can come?

Yoko, what are you picturing?

All best,
Kaia

I can be there--sounds great! Related to some conversation in the
other thread, here's a clip from YouTube of a human mic poetry
performance at Berkeley yesterday (I have no idea why it's sideways).
Geoffrey O'Brien read "A Supermarket in California," Lyn Hejinian read
"The Day Lady Died," Judith Goldman read John Clare's "The Badger,"
and I think there were a few more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdZSNSXC_2k

All best,
John

Hi Yoko,
It looks like it will be John Beer, Nicky Tiso, and me, but others might join up. We're thinking of reading via human microphone--here's a link that John Beer provided of a poetry reading in Berkeley done in that way--

Perhaps we'd read a 1-2 poems each--either our own or poems we choose of others?

Well, i'm still figuring it all out.. but we have just an hour to fill and I was thinking it would be great to have just a 2-3 people perform poems/spoken word pieces read to the group to spice up the rally a little. Maybe 5-10 min each?
In between 10am and 11am, probably closer to 10. How does that sound?
Obviously the day of action is directed at banks... but I'm sure the audience would be receptive to any topic surrounding the occupy wallstreet issues.
Thank you so much!!
My phone number is 541 517 7766. Give me a call tonight if you have any questions. and please let me know how many people are interested in performing.
We would love to meet up with the rally entertainment crew at 9:30 tomorrow at Tom McCall waterfront park if you can't make it to the Steel bridge before then (rally at the Steel is at 8am.)
See you tomorrow!

Hey Poetistas, brother poetasters, fellow travelers, anarchs, and
radical aestheticians, etc.

I tried to wiggle out of my dental procedure, but sadly I will be
strapped down. I wish you all well. And look forward to joining the
events immediately thereafter. Perhaps if anyone is around we can
meet up. My phone number is 415-902-7276.

Best,

Standard

Thank YOU, Yoko. Such amazing organizing you did to help rally
solidarity & helping culture workers find ways to contribute to the
important actions yesterday.

Lots of poets are interesting in pitching in--whether giving readings
or making broadsides or engaging other language & publishing projects
that might come up--

so know we are out here (and if you come upon people who want to pitch
in through poetry or publishing/printmaking, we'd love more people to
join in our conversations via this listserv, too--)

all best,

Kaia
