Towards using publishing as a means to form community within this
developing Occupation movement, thought this could be one place to
share writing we're doing in response to the Occupation and/or the
global economic crises affecting our livelihoods (frankly it is hard
for me to write at all without this in some way bearing upon it!). So
here is a thread where we can share works, respond to each others
works, and perhaps produce text to bring to workshops on-site, etc.

<http://www.poetsforlivingwaters.com/> is a good example of this sort
of shared poetic responses to an ongoing event (in that case, the Gulf
of Mexico oil spill) as a way to process what was happening.

Well, I will start, and most likely the formatting will be butchered
by uploading into this box but here goes nothing.

Hi!

I joined this group because I want to see it grow. I would love to see
poetry nights on Friday or Saturday down at the occupation where
everyone is telling their stories :) I don't consider myself a poet,
but I'll share some words. I hope to hear all of yours...LIVE FROM
OCCUPY PORTLAND!

screaming through #hastags
i hear the voices of america.
we are the 99 percent,
we are the forgotten,
we are the shoved in the corner -
nobody puts baby in the corner.
so we'll scream through #hastags
and say,
#occupytogether.

OOh! Poetry workshop? Anyone want to show me how it's done??

Chiara,

Nice poem, I dig how it gives a body to tweets and can be chanted.
You should totally come to the writing workshop Allison & Kaia will be
hosting Fri. Nov 11th 4-5 pm @ the Library Tent, even if you don't
identify as "poet." It will likely be the first in a series of
workshops/readings, so hope to see you there (where this conversation
can also happen in person!)!
