Reminder: Civil Rights Attorney to speak on Race and Justice at Session 4 of New Jim Crow Reading Group (Tonight, 6 pm)

Hi, everyone--

Just a quick, last-minute reminder that noted Hudson Valley civil rights
attorney Michael Sussman will be the guest speaker at our fourth meeting of
the New Jim Crow Community Read, which will be held tonight, Wednesday 25
April, at 6 pm. Tonight's session will focus on Chapter 3, "The Color of
Justice," but should be accessible to those who haven't had a chance to
finish reading the chapter.

In addition to our usual program of lecture and discussion, we're also
planning on setting aside time for small group discussions that will be led
by some of the young people involved in the Children's Media Project. We
hope that this will offer all of us a chance to delve more deeply into the
book and begin to think about ways that we as a community can better respond
to the scandalous practices that Michelle Alexander is describing in her
book.
