Hi, everyone--

As many of you may know, United Healthcare Workers East (1199 SEIU) [
http://www.1199seiu.org/ ] is organizing a solidarity rally at Hulme Park
this coming Thursday, 15 December, from 4:00-6:00 pm. The rally is in
solidarity with Occupy Poughkeepsie, and we'll need as many people there
from OPK as we can get. Details, including a .pdf of the flyer, is
available at:
http://occupypoughkeepsie.org/content/1199-seiu-rally-solidarity-occupy-poug
hkeepsie .

In order to turn out as many people as possible for the rally, the outreach
working group has agreed to join members of 1199 to canvas neighborhoods and
buildings where they live, which happen to be some of the neighborhoods in
the immediate and near vicinity of Hulme Park. In addition to getting word
out about the rally, the canvassing is also a great opportunity to reach out
to a number of communities that have been underrepresented at OPK and let
them know what Occupy is all about.

To that end, the outreach group has put together two colorful flyers--one in
English and one in Spanish--that we can distribute during the canvassing.

At this point, however, we need volunteers to commit to canvassing at the
following times and locations:

1) Tuesday, from 2:30-5:00 pm at the Smith Street Projects, also known as
Hudson Gardens or the Bricks.

2) Tuesday, from 5-7 pm at the Harriet Tubman Terrace (directly adjacent to
Hulme Park).

3) Tuesday, from 5-7 pm at the Eastern Towers (the large residential tower
located at the intersection of Montgomery Street and Market Street near the
fountain and immediately adjacent to the Harriet Tubman Terrace).

4) Wednesday, from 1-4 pm at the Trinity Temple Church-Seventh Day
Adventist, located at 14 South Bridge Street, between Main and Union
Streets.

If you can make these times and would be willing to canvas, can you please
let me know (jesch...@vassar.edu). I'm trying to make sure that we have
sufficient numbers of OPK folks at all four locations.

Please let me know if you need a ride so that I can coordinate
transportation for those who need it.

Thanks,

Jeff
