Let's see...
-Are people down for another meeting on Sunday before the GA, let's
say at 5 at the Acropolis Diner again?

-At Wednesday's GA the idea of a "Tech Group" for making design
decisions was tossed around. There was once a separate tech working
group, but I feel we can work by consensus within Media, and trust
that we're all capable of asking for help if needed and won't make
sweeping changes to anything without running it by a GA. There's also
the issue of manpower for yet another group. Thoughts?

-Nick Streva was interested in filming Youtube spots for us, as I
recall. Does someone who has already spoken with him about it want to
follow up on that?

-What further work is needed to make Mailchimp universally more
useful? Media contacts?

-It couldn't hurt for us to write a letter to Bishop Sisk in the city
for his pro-Occupy statements (http://www.dioceseny.org/pages/496-
bishop-sisk-s-address-to-235th-convention and
http://archive.episcopalchurch.org/80050_130500_ENG_HTM.htm) which set
the stage for the resolution Blake wrote (http://www.dioceseny.org/
news_items/217-235th-convention-round-up). Blake said the bishop gets
a lot of hate mail, so it would be a nice gesture. We could probably
slip some pro-Blake statements in there as well. Anyone feel like
writing? If not, I'll take care of it.

-The site needs a wiki and a forum, but until someone gives us
access...

-What new methods/ideas could we develop for promotion and
recruitment?

I may be in Poughkeepsie on Sunday but I don't know what time. I will
let you know tomorrow. Sorry for the late notice.

I got it.

I just need more email addresses, is all. There are 192 or so in there
now, all of them good. But I'm sure there's more.

Once we get a really nice central list we can break them out into
different, smaller and more specialized lists but now we're getting into
maintenance and manpower and commitment of time.

That's a great idea. If you don't mind drafting something...

That's a whole GA right there.

Mumble is open, as far as I know, as anyone can join the chat if they
know what room to go in to there. OccupyHV was, I think, Matt. I don't
see the address media@ on anything anymore so it may be a moot point.
Still, it would be nice to see what's in there.

Without my delving through fifty pages of Facebook--Christ on a bike,
do I loathe Facebook these days--how many of the missing GA minutes
can we get on the website?

Physical meetings of this working group don't seem to be high on
anyone's priority list, but can we agree to a weekly voice conference?
Say, Tuesday nights at 7PM? Or would that conflict with Northern
Dutchess?

This is all I could find during a quick search. There may be more but we're still dealing with minutes from the 8th and 11th that were taken down for correction and never corrected, and minutes from meetings in between those and these which Alex says were never given to him.

Occupy Poughkeepsie, New York
General Assembly – January 29, 2012

Facilitator: Norm
Minutes: Blake
Present: six others

FDR Birthday on Monday January 30, 2012
There will be an event that begins in the Rose Garden at 3:00pm.’
Previous conversations with ONP indicated the possibility of a range of activities: mike checking the speakers, protesting in some other way, bring signs that protest, bringing signs that indicate support of FDR.

Those planning to attend for OPK General Assembly are planning to be ‘present’ and in support of FDR and his hopes and dreams for our country. Including our present hopes for a Second New Deal.

Outreach to St. Paul's Episcopal Church for Friday night GAs.
The Poughkeepsie Friends Meeting House has given the GA notice that we can meet there for only the next two Friday night GAs. Their decision is not reflective of support of the Occupy movement. It is a function of their own internal decision making by consensus. We respect their process.

We are examining the possibility that if we were to pay rent for the space, might we be able to continue to meet there.

In the meantime, Jeff Green was authorized by the GA to be in contact with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, who has expressed an interest in making their space available for Occupy events.

Know Your Rights workshop is Sunday, February 19th
At Christ Church before the GA at 7 pm. Probably either 5:30 or 6 pm, awaiting room and trainer confirmations.

OWS Road trip in Poughkeepsie on Monday, February 6
Those present at the GA were not aware of any of the details surrounding this event. We understand that a poster is being developed with an agenda, etc. That will be a good thing.

There was a suggestion to perhaps move the event to the Sadie Peterson Delaney Library at the FPC. The GA assumes that someone is checking to see if that space is available all afternoon and into the evening on Monday – especially in regards to the closing time of the FPC.

Is there a need to provide housing to the OWS group on Monday night?

Occupy Federal Credit Union
Still in a very early stage. At this point, a GA is being planned, on the West Coast.

OPK Logo
Norm and others will be at work for an OPK logo.

DCCFront
A teach-in is being considered at Dutchess Community College, Vassar, and perhaps Marist.

A short course of the Industrial Areas Foundation & Saul Alinsky
A resident of Poughkeepsie worked with Saul Alinsky in the 1960’s and remained on the IAF Board of Directors until just recently. Barry Menuez is interested in attend an Occupy event (perhaps a dedicated GA, or a ‘called’ event) to provide an overview of Saul’s work and the IAF.

If you don’t know the name Saul Alinsky:

Email correspondence with Fr. Blake
Fr. Blake received an email on Sunday, which provided him with a ‘clip’ from a Facebook conversation. The clip is purported to be from an individual formerly active with OPK (no longer in the area). The language used in the’ clip’ is extremely vile. Other folk present at the GA were familiar with the individual who sent Fr. Blake the note, and questioned its authenticity.

Fr. Blake observed that if the ‘clip’ is accurate, and not fabricated (as is suspected to the case) than the individual who used such language would no longer be allowed on Christ Church property. However – it just as likely (to some, more likely) that the entire thing was fabricated. Never a dull moment in the Occupy movement!

GA minutes - Jan 27, 2012

Chair: Jeff

Present:*, Brook, Whatev, Thomas, Tom, James, Blake, Alexander, Pepper, (I'm missing a couple.)

Updates:

Blake: 150 former residents of Zuccati Park who have been living in 3 or 4 churches that are not ordinarily set up as shelters, but who took them in temporarily, will be shutting their doors to them next weekend. Shelter beds are available to them, but many don't know want to go. It will be a difficult time.

James reported on his trip with Blair to Nobody Leaves in Springfield, Mass, attended a support meeting there for 15 or so people facing eviction who are planning to resist. Very powerful. Blair hopes to create something like that here in PK, and Kingston. Foreclosure group meeting Saturday 2 pm at Vassar. Contact Blair.

Tom: National Lawyers Guild workshop: Know Your Rights! Feb. 16, 6 pm ? at Christ Church.

Quaker Meeting only able to offer us free meeting space for 2 more weeks. They will look into whether we could stay if we payed something.

St. Paul's Episcople Church has offered space at some time. Contact Rev. Tyler Jones, 452-84440.

Some folks from New Paltz planning to attend event at FDR home celebrating 130th birthday. Monday Jan 30th. 3 pm?

Occupy Road trip planning to stop at Christ Church Mon Feb 6th, some time between 2 and 8 pm.

GA Minutes 1-22-12

Agenda
-Facebook
-Minutes
-FDR event
-Working Group updates
-Winter Update

Facebook
Pat made comments, taken off for opinion
Question: What is opinion? What is too much? What should be
This is a movement with a message.
Pat: should be able to express
Alex: Applies a simple rule, if it is for OPK business post as an OPK admin, if it has any personal opinion, post as self
Ryan: We agreed to initial all posts as admins

Minutes
Proposal that minutes should be made in a more formal way, had passed in GA, then in the next GA the limitations were discussed. Waiting for original proposer to return to GA to ask for a repeal.
Minutes taken by different people are very different
Pat: minutes take into account the environment
Tom: sees the need for some sort of guidance
Devon: noted that a motorcycle just went by our location at Christ Church ;)
Liked second half of proposal that self-regulating, read minutes at next GA. Concern by Alexander that this would take 15 minutes at the beginning of each GA
Spoke of need for a physical occupation where a GA is held every night, thus lessening the items that are at each GA

FDR Event
Tom: on the 30th of January, FDRs birthday, there will be an event, suggested that we go and hang out in a friendly way, similar to the MLK event
Event to go and Occupy is dead in the water
[unknown status of bus from OWS, for road trip, week of Feb 2?]

Working Group updates
Tom: media group, Nick streva said he was interested in making you tube videos of Occupiers
Nick is making newsletter to be posted as a .PDF on the website
Question was asked, is there a way to know how many people visit the website. Yes, but the data is page views and not necessarily unique people.
Millbrook, Middletown and Newburgh starting to Occupy!! and hold Gas
Discussion of Unions and possible funding sources
Alexander: All funds should be disbursed by GA consensus and not to individuals
Getting Media and Outreach to have a meeting to dsicuss their spheres and where one ends and the other begins Alex: Have a Pizza Party for both groups!
Direct Action! Pat: Night in Occupy Orange County will re-create Zuccotti park inside, Feb 2nd, Thursday starts at 7pm. Organizers want Occupiers to come talk, speak and teach how to have a GA. Email Revo.Pat for info and carpooling.

Note: some people felt put out by the barricades on the first night that we were supposed to be evicted, or felt generally attacked. For all of those reading this, please come back, we want you all in the Movement.

Toll is being increased to 1.50$ across the bridge, discussion of possible actions, protests.

Question and Answer period followed, by a reporter from the Vassar newspaper, on where and what we have been doing since the eviction.

Plea from Alexander for all those who took minutes at earlier GAs, please send them to me!!

Had to replace the Google calendar on the site, as the old one wasn't

pr...@occupypoughkeepsie.org, until I tried looking at it when I
