I couldn't get anyone who at the council meeting this evening to
tell me what happened so that's not in here aside from a brief
mention. As well, I'm sure I'm missing a name or two of the
speakers, like that stagehand dude.

This past weekend saw Occupy Poughkeepsie's "Days of Action"
event which ran from Saturday, January 14th through Tuesday,
January 17th and by all accounts the event was both an internal and
external success. The weekend saw a day-time reoccupation of Hulme
park and judging by the number of "honks" from passersby, OPK was
missed and is still appreciated.
As part of the weekend events OPK participated in the city's Martin
Luther King Day parade and rally which began at the AME Zion Church,
included a rally at City Hall and finished with refreshments at the
Holy Light Pentecostal Church.
After the MLK events that day we held think tank discussions at
Christ Episcopal church, regional working group assemblies and a
regional General Assembly later that evening.
The weekend culminated on Tuesday evening with an appearance at the
Poughkeepsie Common Council meeting where individual members spoke
about issues of concern to them.
Speakers for the weekend
included Tim Koechlin, a political economist, Gerald Lyons from
SEIU Local 200 and Harold Miller from the NY Committee for Change.
Musicians included Pat Lamana, Fred Nagel and Andy Papula.
