TONIGHT in Foster City: The Struggle Against the Redwood City Jail!

On Wed. Nov. 6th, SMC DFA (San Mateo County Democracy for America) will be hosting a meeting with members of the Stop the San Mateo Jail Coalition in Foster City!

Join us for this important meeting to learn more about prison and jail expansion across California and how you can help and/or plug into the fight here in San Mateo County!

Speakers will include:

Emily Harris, statewide organizer for Californians United for a Responsible Budget (CURB), a statewide alliance of more than 50 organizations working to curb prison spending by reducing the number of people in prison and the number of prisons in California;

James Lee of ORWC (Occupy Redwood City), SPH (Save Pete's Harbor), and PDA (Peninsula Direct Action); and

Silvia Ramirez of the United Parents Committee of the Immigration Task Force.

The speakers will explain why stopping prison and jail expansion matters to those with or without family members locked up -- and what we can do to reverse a quarter century of "the largest prison building project in the history of the world."
