Hey all, just a quick update. I have been in conversation with the national Nurses Unions, and have sent them a shift calendar.  Once they get organized on their end, they will be joining us in the first aid tent!  Everyone interested in volunteering at the Medical area please sign up on the calendar.  We have a quick debriefing every day at 9am and 6pm at the first aid tent to familiarize volunteers with how the medical area functions, sanitation issues, and our non-hierarchal, non-judgmental, safer spaces protocols.  Please come to one of these, and then stay to help out! : )

Re: workshops - many people have expressed interest about the possibility of doing workshops around health and safety.  Anyone with anything to share, and wants to do a workshop, should!  We can publicize it at the Wellness area for you and/or hold space for you to have the workshop in.  I am sending this email to the safer spaces group as well as the larger occupy oakland group so people have the opportunity to be in communication about these happenings and get in touch if folks want to work together too.

Does anyone want to do any street medic related workshops?  I am talking with some folks with Copwatch, and I think it would be a good idea to to a dual-workshop, with the first part being Know Yr Rights, Copwatching at actions-related training, and the second half being basic street medic and first responder skillshare (emphasis on knowing your own scope of practice too please).  I think these workshops can/should happen repeatedly, so anyone who is interested in facilitating a medic/herbal medic workshop, let me know if you'd like me to put you in touch with the Copwatch folks to collaborate for your training!

I would like to do a Narcan/Opiate Overdose Response Training at the camp.  If anyone else has been trained on this, and is interested in doing this, contact me off-list to coordinate.

I think it would be awesome to have someone come in to do rapid HIV testing and counseling at the camp.
