Hi,

I'm sure the irony of the Scott Olsen memorial that has built up
around the memorial flag pole erected by the Oakland Detachment Marine
Corps League hasn't been lost on most of us. But something is missing
from that memorial, a flag.

Next Friday is Veterans Day and I feel that after the support shown by
veterans to the Occupy Wall Street movement, we owe it to them to
correct that error.

I suggest two things. First, that we make sure the necessary items are
in place so a flag can be raised there. Two, that we reach out to one
or more Veterans groups asking them to participate in a flag raising
ceremony on Veterans day, observing a small moment of silence and
giving someone from their group the opportunity to address those in
attendance.

If you have not read the plaque at the base of the flag pole, it
reads: "Dedicated to all American Heroes of all wars by Oakland
Detachment Marine Corps League. Armistice Day 1935 "
