My Brooklyn- My Brooklyn is a documentary about Director Kelly Anderson’s personal journey, as a Brooklyn “gentrifier,” to understand the forces reshaping her neighborhood along lines of race and class.

The People's Firehouse-The Polish Americans of Northside, Brooklyn realized their community was under attack by the city's bureaucracy. Due to an unwritten policy of "planned shrinkage", schools, hospitals, and other services had been closed or cut back and the neighborhood began to decay. The closing of the local firehouse was the last straw. Residents occupied the firehouse and began a campaign to win back fire protection and revitalize their neighborhood.
Paul Schneider- Director
Producer- Third World Newsreel
1979 25min.
