TEACH RADICAL SERIES: ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION IN PRACTICE
Part 3: Building Movements through Education Spaces, June 25, 6pm - RLS-NYC

Activist groups and community organizations account for a great deal of the energy that drives the United States Left, but can the sum of their parts add up to a movement capable of bringing about fundamental social change? Alternative educational centers provide spaces in which groups like these can come together to envision a different kind of society. These centers can draw in and strengthen the many smaller progressive projects taking place around us. Join us for a discussion with the Brecht Forum and the Maysles Documentary Center to find out how they are working for social change through education.
The Brecht Forum is a cultural and educational center for people working for social justice, equality, and a new culture that puts human needs first. Through its programs and events, the Brecht Forum brings people together across social and cultural boundaries and artistic and academic disciplines to promote critical analysis, creative thinking, collaborative projects and networking in an independent community-level environment.
The Maysles Documentary Center is a Harlem-based non-profit dedicated to the exhibition and production of documentary films that inspire dialogue and action. Their Educational Institute offers diverse, year-round documentary educational programming for people of all ages throughout the Harlem, Northern Manhattan and South Bronx communities.
