Dear Peter, Andy, and Father John,

All of you have kindly offered assistance to Al Nur.  They filed a hate crime report with the County Sheriff's Department this evening but we are discussing a possible press conference with interfaith leaders.  I will keep you all posted about that.

In the meantime, I want to share with you the email below which I sent to our Interfaith Witness in the Inland Empire. Already I've heard from quite a lot of people that they have sent cards and emails, and there is a children's group who are making cards themselves.  Would you kindly pass along the suggestions below to your members who may want to help our sisters and brothers at Al Nur?

Also, there will likely be a small interfaith delegation visiting Al Nur on Monday evening to deliver some cards and offer a friendly visit and some kind words.  If any of your members would like to participate, please let me know so I can confirm.  The Muslims in this interfaith delegation will stay for the night prayers (Night of Power, if you are familiar with these final 10 days of Ramadan).  There is more danger than usual in these 10 days because as you may know, many Muslims remain in the mosque to pray continuously throughout the night.  If you're familiar with the Roman Catholic and Episcopalian "Exposure of the Blessed Sacrament", it's like that where the prayers go on from dusk to dawn and are believed to bring huge measures of grace.  I can explain more if you like but the important part of this is that those in the mosque (which is just a small home in a residential neighborhood) will be exposed to danger if any of the hate crime perpetrators come back.

Please let me know if any of these ideas sound good to you or your members.

Grace and peace in difficult days,
Vicki (714) 362-7676

My dear friends,

As I gather all of your great ideas and suggestions for Al Nur, please consider expressing your love to this small community in some way as soon as you can.  Perhaps you'd like to send an email to Rashid Ahmed ahme...@gmail.com so that he can distribute it to their community email list; maybe you'd like to invite the Al Nur kids to the park with the kids of your house of worship or your family; you might want to send a card to the mosque at 4797 W Phillips Blvd, Ontario, CA 91762.  Just a suggestion.  These brothers and sisters of ours are hurting, dear friends.

Blessings,
Vicki
