I hope you are well.
I will see if I can attend. I have class on Sunday too.
Hi friends,
The Ellis Act that ravaged the rental market in San Francisco, to undercut rent controls, has come to us in LA, and our building is a case in point. We all received eviction notices Jan 8th. All the tenants in Villa Carlotta in Hollywood got theirs Christmas
Eve. Soon to come to a neighborhood near you...
We're holding a public meeting at Founders MCC 3:00 this Sunday to organize against the Ellis Act.
But I'm convinced that God is so good as to turn evil to good, and I want to promote an idea: Since, in order to evoke the Ellis Act the landlord has to claim he/she wants out of the landlord business, local non-profits and/or the city can take these
buildings over to stabilize the housing market and provide additional units of permanent housing for the homeless. THERE ARE PRECENDENTS!
If any of you can sign on in any capacity to help with this effort, let me know. I hope to see some of you Sunday.
Peace and prayers,
Roberta Morris
