“When someone in Canada becomes a billionaire, it’s always at someone else’s expense.” says UBC student Iain Marjoribanks. “The Tent City is a chilling testament to the city’s willful disregard in providing affordable housing. It has also obscured other issues we care about, from the environment to the student debt crisis. To varying degrees, and in various ways, we’re losing our common wealth to banks and corporations. We’ve all felt it. We’re all effected. We’re losing the things that make life worth living. 99% of Canadians are waiting for an outlet, and we’re going to give it to them.”
