Haven't seen this on the list yet, so thought I would post about it.

This Friday is the Buy Nothing Day for the occupation.

Most corporate retailers are selling things at a loss to lure
customers in the store on this manufactured consumerist holiday.

Do not be tempted. Buy Nothing Day is not a symbolic gesture; it is
real. It means BUY NOTHING on Friday Nov 25th.

Take it as an opportunity to watch how often during the course of a
day that you desire some convenient purchase. We have been trained to
have those impulses, and for one day of the year at least, we should
re-learn how to be happy without spending money.

Of course you will also need the fore-thought to be prepared with all
the supplies you will need for 24 hours of freedom from consumerism.

Don't be lured in by sales, don't be suckered into thinking it's not
real. The time is NOW and YOU are the person; WE are the PEOPLE.

Buy Nothing Day

Nov 25: North America
Nov 26: World Wide

A few people start breaking their old patterns, embracing what they
love (and in the process discovering what they hate), daydreaming,
questioning, rebelling. What happens naturally then, according to the
revolutionary past, is a groundswell of support for this new way of
being, with more and more people empowered to perform new gestures
unencumbered by history.

On this 20th anniversary of Buy Nothing Day, we take it to the next
level. We realize that consumer minimalism is one of many strategic
operations in our continued fight for real democracy and life without
dead time. This year lets fast like never before. Lets get monastic
with our actions. Lets take back our holidays. Lets wean ourselves off
of mega corporations, put our money back into the local independent
economy, and live for a different kind of future.
