Everybody is working hard and we love them for it. At the same time, it
means they easily might forget to deal with this, so help them remember.
Remind them, This network will help them connect with folks all over the
state of Vermont, and will support everything we are all trying to do,
including outreach. We just need a couple of folks to gather up the
names of point persons for the various working groups (to keep), and the
name(s) of the person(s) with that list for our list.
Thanks everyone!

This is where it begins.
Up above Emily made some requests.
Emily, Your news is good. Could you post it on the OYO blog
(http://OccupyYourOpinion.blogspot.com)? This creates a stable platform
for your information. Then, direct your request for help, via email,
directly to the other people on the ring (this list; we're all
listening!), and tell us who you want to connect with. I think you are
asking for a general announcement to our respective Occupations, and
perhaps for Outreach people or Direct Action people to help you out.
Also, you could attach your petition (use a common format like rtf or
doc) to the email you send out, and the rest of us will have it to send
out to our people.
Also, Emily, It seems you would like to raise some money. Please write a
pitch for donations, that tells everybody what you are doing (an
advertisement), what it will say, and how it will give strategic
advantage in achieving your goal. Those are all things prospective
donors will want to know. If you cannot raise that pretty large amount
of money, what is your plan B? This pitch should be clearly written for
people who are only vaguely aware of your issue, so that any of us can
read it to our people at GA. Good Luck, I'll be on the edge of my seat
to see how this goes!
Marie, and everyone for that matter, the table shows the people on our
STATE LEVEL contact ring (including YOU). These are the people you
direct your inquiries to. But each of us on the state-level ring cannot
possibly be the final target of all of the messages we might be asked to
send. Remember, each of us, when we get a message, usually will pass it
along to other people in our local occupations.
People who do not have experience in differentiated General Assemblies
might not be aware of the various functions people take on. People in
small groups just do it all. Here in Burlington we have Direct Action,
Outreach, FedUp (women's rights), Occupy Voices (singing), Finance
(handles money), Economics (study group), Labor Solidarity,
Environmental issues (VY and otherwise), Art, and numerous other less
active groups. When you are passing along a request, think about whether
it might better be made in the GA, or to a specific working group.
Recipients, obviously, make the final decision of who to forward a
message to.
Right now, Brian Tokar and Jennifer Steckler, who is on the list, are
working on getting Occupy people to come hang out with Transition people
for a weekend. I just wrote a letter to him asking for details about his
request. Jennifer, if you're there, do you want to write some thing up
about what you would like from Occupiers, far and wide?
Finally, with the list of people in the state-ring, you got a blank of
the related form for local people. Use this to collect the names and
contact info of your local point-persons. You need this to do this job!
I was able to print these forms in landscape position.
Take care and good luck, everyone. I'll be trying to learn how to do a
conference call, and when I do, I'll try to arrange one for us.
