OWS Organizers Workshop: Organizing Through A Racial Justice Framework

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2011 --- in place of Spokescouncil*

Winston Unity Hall - 235 west 23rd Street

(between 7th & 8th avenue)

7:00-9:30 PM

On Friday, December 2, Spokescouncil unanimously decided that on Wednesday, December 14, Spokescouncil will be replaced by an OWS Organizers Workshop (put together by POCcupy Your Block and the Applied Research Center), entitled Organizing Through A Racial Justice Framework.

Organizing Through A Racial Justice Framework will be an interactive workshop led by Rinku Sen, Executive Director of the Applied Research Center, which will focus on building multiracial alliances within the Occupy Wall Street movement and developing strategies for organizing with an explicit racial justice framework in a unifying way.  It will be an opportunity for organizers, participants, and supporters of OWS to share experiences, practice anti-racist framing techniques, and learn strategies for bringing race consciousness and the struggle for racial equity to every level of the movement.

This workshop is OPEN TO ALL: the more people attend from across the spectrum of OWS working groups, affinity groups, and associated organizations, the greater the potential for meaningful learning and alliance-building.
