1) There is a monthly event called BYOC (Bring Your Own Cause) that I have been to twice over the past couple years. They have a process where you sign up to present at the event and some small portion of money goes to the winner who is voted for through text messaging.

They should be having a mid-January event that whomever is interested can attend. I can sign up to present the NYC events for Jan 20 & 21.
