We should certainly organize for tomorrow's actions, plan acts of solidarity with OWS and start communicating regularly and directly with them (with individuals and through announcements and proposals at the OWS GA) to get their members involved in Brooklyn. Perhaps it's time for an Inter-Occupation Communication contingent within Outreach.
We should also communicate with groups already involved in opposition to Atlantic Yards, including and especially those who just filed the lawsuit.
In addition to direct actions against Atlantic Yards which require physical presence, I would like to see a petition to Jay-Z demanding that he rescind his support for the project. Jay-Z is a minority stakeholder in the New Jersey (soon to be Brooklyn) Nets.
I would also like to see petitions and letters to current and former politicians who have supported Atlantic Yards (Marty Markowitz, Charles Schumer, George Pataki, Elliot Spitzer, and Michael Bloomberg are a few), explaining just how much harm this already has and will continue to do, and demanding that space be re-designated for actual affordable housing, low-cost office space for non-profits, and large indoor and outdoor public spaces which are open 24 hours.
Petitions may seem hokey and pointless, but now with websites such as
change.org you can quickly get thousands of signatures if your cause has strong public support and they are actually quite effective.
Sunday DA meeting after the GA sounds good.
