Hi all,
Next Wednesday night there is a forum at the Ethical Society on community engagement for designers with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and social and environmental justice.
Though much of the content will be specific to designers in an exchange of ideas and philosophies as opposed to direct action, I hope that it's a productive discussion and will lead to better solutions in part 2 of this project: a mentorship program that will team designers, engineers, and activists up with high school students to design creative solutions to deblight abandoned spaces in the city. I was hoping that maybe some of you would be interested in this portion of the project, or in coming out to the roundtable next week.
I am especially hoping that we have attendees whose feet have actually been planted firmly in this type of activism, because I have been on the fence about some of the panelists and have seen how these conversations have gone in the past. I want an audience that can challenge and provide some critical thinking in the open q+a.
Here's the link:
Let me know if you have any questions or are interested. I think they're encouraging registration but it's probably not necessary.
Thanks,
Alex Z.
