Occupy The Rose Parade - Donation for Tents

Hello,

Several members of Occupy Redlands have reached out to the organizers of Occupy The Rose Parade to see how we could help.  OTRP would like to have a group of people march the parade route dressed as "tents".  The tents would be painted with slogans and so forth, the original symbol of this movement.  Their problem is that they don't have the money for the tents.  I am asking you if you would like to donate money towards this effort.

I'm asking for a donation of $10 per person and the tents cost $6-7 per tent.  If you want to donate more or less, let me know. 

I would order as many tents as possible with the money donated.

The hope is to have between 10 and 20 tents.

Please respond today if possible.

I don't have time to setup a Paypal account, so if you post this on Facebook, I would only take donations from people who attend General Assemblies.

As far as payment goes:

You could simply give me the money at the next Occupy Redlands GA or if you want to come to Occupy The Rose Parade, you could do so then.

I'm not sure if I can make the Rose Parade. We are leaving town later
that day for Sacramento, so it'll be tight schedule-wise. I will
pledge $20, however, and can give it to you at the next GA.

The Occupy Movement is about to kick-off 2012 with a bang!

Members of Occupy Redlands and Occupiers from all over the world will
be Occupying The Rose Parade on Monday, January 2nd. The Rose Parade
is an enormously popular event in Southern California and the United
St...ates, with vast amounts of local and national media coverage.
Members of Occupy LA have negotiated with the Tournament of Roses
Organizers to participate in the parade.

If you are interested in participating in the parade, you simply need
to show up with a sign. Details can be found in the official Occupy

Thank you to everyone who was willing to make a donation for a tent.  The plan was to paint the tents with slogans and have people walking inside them along the parade route - similar to the "Tent Monsters" unveiled by Occupy Melbourne.

Unfortunately the Occupy The Rose Parade organizers have their hands full with constructing other parade props, banners and so on.  So no tents will be purchased.

For the record, it's nice to see how ready Occupy Redlands members are, at the drop of a hat, we had $150 pledged. 

I hope to see some of you in Pasadena!
