hey OCCUPY RED HOOK,
Consensus AS AN AGENDA ITEM
I would like to formally submit a agenda item/workshop on Consensus in the GA.
I raise this agenda item because many of the Occupies and OWS has been doing
consenus and GA's not in the most efficient or healthy way. (Of course that may seem
opinionated or off base, but it's a view shared by more and more folks within the OCCUPY
Movement). So i hope we can discuss this topic and possibly work on ways to improve the
process. This agenda item is based in part on Native and African Traditions as well as
CT. BUTLER who's been doing consenus and movement building over 30 years.
REPORTBACK
As some of you know or may NOT know...i work with ALL community based GA's in the city,
In the last three weeks or so I have been working to make OCCUPY RED HOOK more visible
by listing your GA's on the NYCGA website, speaking about your GA with OCCUPY SUNSET PARK
around issues of collaboration, networking and May Day, as well as listing your action last week
at the precint. I listed this action not only on the website but on the list serves of OWS as well.
Personally i've been struggling with OWS to not only reach out more to the OCCUPIES but also
enocuraging folks to attend their LOCAL GA's. It's not easy but we are in a MARATHON (not) a Sprint.
I hope to do some STOP AND FRISK work with your GA in the near future. I just have like 3 GA's to attend
on Saturday's so it's kind of rough but hey again this is a MARATHON (NOT) a SPRINT
. i WILL
ATTENDING Sunset Park's GA on SATURDAY to get more SPECIFICS about their may and that they possibly meet us
at 9th and 4TH on May DAY and we can 'OCCUPY' THE SUBWAYS together. They are also dealing with similiar issues as you
all so maybe we can collab on some projects. Occupy Bushwick is another Occupy looking to work with others in Brooklyn and
I will be meeting with them tomorrow. Will do another REPORTBACK before the next meeting.
BANNER/BUTTON/PERSONAL INFO
I didn't get the brother's name or info with the locs...but if he can please contact me here or by phone 646-778-6766.
I have a contact through Occupy Astoria/Long Island City who can make us a banner on the cheap..and i plan to make buttons if
no one else can. Also have a contact with Occupy Staten island that can help with t--shirts and also through OWS. I just started this OCCU-EVOLVE group a lil over a month ago, so it's gonna take time but we are working on making sure that OCCUPIES like Red Hook and others
are strong and connected to the general Occupy Movement. I do this full-time but just lack the resources and time at this very moment but within a
week or so I hope to be present at more actions and I fully plan to do OUTREACH and publicize ALL your actions. I'm NOT running for office or trying to
push any other agenda other than that we succeed in bringing power to our communities. I'm a bit frustrated with OWS that they havent and arent really focused on that and I keep my sanity by participating in GA's like yours....so thanx for having me

I just have one thought, I appreciate the potential for networking communities, but where possible, I'd like to propose that we work with local vendors (tshirts etc.) in order to further empower the micro economy of Red Hook, and create a more sustainable economy in Red Hook.

sounds good to me...we need to do outreach for that..and soon should get a list of businesses and those with services who are supportive of what we do....i'd like to see if we can maybe get more of our youths in red hook working for local businesses maybe over the summer...why wait for the mayor's office to 'offer' ever diminishing jobs for them. Maybe some in our community would?

Good idea, maybe putting together a local summer jobs bank is something we could do.
I know we could hire one or two kids, and I'm sure there are others too.
