Greetings,

With thousands descending on the Nation's capitol next week to protest corruption and money in politics (among many other issues) we here in New York City just experienced the TRUTH about 'democracy' and the LACK of power of the 99%, through passage of the Mayor's Gentrification Plan (MIH/ZQA/) by the city council.

This blantant disregard of the voices of New Yorkers only adds of myriad of issues, from housing, and wages to police brutality to daily environmental hazards that all revolve around our lack of power and democracy. In 2011 Occupy Wall Street showed us the way in 2011 and 5 Years later it still exists because the crimes of Wall Street still persist. We invite you each week to help us Occupy it..and come speak out and truth to power right on the same street that is at epicenter war, poverty, greed, wage theft, racism, sexism, individualism and more.

DEMOCRACY SPRING 2016 (NEW YORK CITY) Initial Organizing Assembly

This assembly has been inspired by upcoming actions in D.C. of the same title but is being held to organize for Spring Actions in New York City that speak to fundamental issue that the 99% don't have any REAL power nor democracy in this city.

The most recent example of this can be found in the struggle for Affordable Housing that Mayor DeBlasio ha created a plan that will actually gentrify even more of the city (through his MIH-ZQA Mandatory Inclusionary Housing-Scam).

Even though the vast majority of New Yorkers and most community have said NO to this plan it is STILL poised to go through the City Council! This coupled with Wall Street not paying its hair share of taxes to the state controlling everything from wages to education funding and other isues shows clearly that we have no power nor democracy in this city!

Add to all of this the 1% and power elite who often have the most influence on city hall and government makes disempowers poor and working class people even more.

Join us as we organize around campaigns and action to build toward and beyond May Day 2016.!
