A fundamental problem with advancing any global effort involving community currency is that relatively few people understand much about it.  Because of this, funding is challenging, and generally limited to organizations specializing in supporting innovative projects. A few months ago I learned that our project would be mentioned favorably in a new book, People Money, which was published in July. This new book is written by three of those who know the most about alternative currency, and their opinions are widely respected.  Consequently, this opens the window for us to crowdsource funds because it provides the validation that people need, and so I've put everything else on the back burner to focus on researching the crowdfunding process and designing a campaign to take advantage of this window.  I'm still developing our other avenues of support, but crowdfunding will permit us to hand over ownership of the system to people who want to make small investments, so this is were to begin.  I expect to launch the campaign in September.

Funny.. I was at a crowdsourcing event last night. I also visited lawyers. I think that there are advantages to be had in people not understanding cc's yet. It helps us to by-pass international security laws... no lawyer can answer questions for what can and cannot be done. Yet. (!)
