Lyle, that’s how many of you have made a donation to our campaign since Charles announced that he’s challenging Rand Paul.
I’m Bianca, Team Booker’s campaign manager and I’m beyond proud of this number and everyone for contributing to this historic movement to turn Kentucky blue. But as we come to the end of the month, this isn’t the only important number on my mind as we rush to meet our $30,000 August fundraising goal:
- 75. In contrast, 75% of Rand Paul’s campaign money comes from corporate money, rich people, and big business. Time after time, Rand Paul has catered his agenda in the Senate to the highest bidder and put profits over the lives of Kentuckians.
- 120. There are 120 counties in Kentucky. If we want to end Rand Paul’s rule, we need to reach out to voters in all 120 counties and start building a grassroots organizing strategy to pull off a people-powered victory.
- $30,000. To fund this grassroots organizing strategy, we need to make significant investments to grow our campaign team, train volunteers, buy gas to travel across Kentucky, and compete against Rand Paul’s corporate-funded campaign. That’s why we set a goal to raise another $30,000 before August ends so we can get straight to work.
We only have two more days to reach this goal so it’s going to take a team effort to pull this off. Can you please chip in $5 or anything you can so we can hit this goal and continue growing our momentum to defeat Rand Paul?
Rand Paul might have his wealthy friends, but we’ve got something even more powerful: each other.
Something special is happening in Kentucky — a people-powered movement rising up like we’ve never seen before and the support we’re receiving from across the country confirms that we’re not alone in this fight. There’s evidence all around us that there’s incredible enthusiasm for us to take on Rand Paul and end this chapter of failed leadership in our Commonwealth.
Especially now, after learning that Rand Paul has been profiting from this pandemic since the very beginning, it’s critical we rise up together to end his political career.
But the harsh reality we face is that defeating Rand Paul is going to take significant resources and funding. And since we take $0 from special interests or corporations — we’re relying on people like you reading this email right now to help us keep up with our fundraising.
