The National Economic and Social Rights Initiative (
NESRI) is 10 years old!!! Hello everyone my name is Rob Robinson and I have been a volunteer in NESRI's housing program for over five years. On November 18th the organization that introduced me to human right as a framing mechanism in organizing will celebrate the milestone with a fundraiser and party. The host for the evening will be Emory University professor of African American Studies and author of "Eyes Off The Prize" -
Cambridge University Press- Carol Anderson. Speakers include a long time personal favorite of yours truly, Laura Flanders, Lucas Benitez of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (
CIW), Maisie Chin of

We are thrilled to announce Red Baraat will be performing at Expanding the Politically Possible: NESRI's 10th Anniversary Celebration. There is no band in the world like Red Baraat. This 8 piece Brooklyn band has drawn worldwide praise for its singular sound -- a merging of hard driving North Indian bhangra rhythms with elements of jazz, go-go, brass funk, and hip-hop. Known for their incredible live performances, the spirit of Red Baraat is palpable joy - delivered with virtuosic musicianship.
Celebrate a decade of advancing social justice through human rights, please RSVP and buy tickets today!
