Hi!

Thanks for teaching yoga at Oscar Grant Plaza!

I was given a link to the Occupy Oakland yoga calendar by a yoga teacher friend. Where is the yoga held? Is it going to be at 5PM from now on? I've also been working on the Oscar Grant Plaza Gazette (a collective newspaper that's been handed out since day 3 of the occupation also online, but we are behind on archiving), so I'd like to be sure to publicize it there too!

I might show up today for yoga, depends on what my guest wants to do.

I tried to practice one morning when I was camping there (toward the beginning, and I couldn't find the class)!

Thanks so much for doing this! I'd love to have yoga as part of a GA warmup or something too...something accessible for the entire crowd. Or a full on event. I bet people would notice the change in the energy of the space!

Hi Lara

Thanks for your email! We are teaching at 8am on weekdays, 9am on
weekends. We are trying to do 5pm everyday but not quite there yet. I
don't think there will be a 5pm class today - sorry! Sarwang is
teaching at 9am tomorrow and he's great, hope you and your guest can
make it. Location has changed since the police raid - we are holding
it on the corner of 14th and broadway by tully's.

We would love help spreading the word in the gazette - thank you!! We
are also searching for more teachers, so that announcement would be
appreciated too.

I love the idea of yoga as warm up to GAs - I've cc'd our google group
so the other teachers can weigh in.

Will be in touch soon after the group discusses...

Thrilled you're interested in teaching again.  Were you part of the radical yoga group that we saw announced but couldn't figure out how to get in touch with?

If you can make it, we are meeting tonight at the interfaith tent at 8:45pm.  If not, we'll fill you in and get you added to the google group (cc'd) and calendar so you can pick some slots.

No problem! Hopefully I can get to the GA on Wed. and meet you in person. I unfortunately can't do 5PM yoga today. The Gazette comes out every day, and we switch off who publishes it. I'll be publishing again on Thurs. and Fri. so I'll put more yoga info in then. I've attached two versions of it, yesterday's (I haven't done yet) and Friday's which was the last one I did. We put them at the info tent at some point every day. Some are on Occupy website, but figuring out how to get them up there and who to ask has been challenging.

I also met some folks from Icarus Project randomly this weekend, who were looking to set up discussions about radical mental health services. I am hoping to connect more radical wellness people together at Occupy Oakland...

The teacher I knew was Sarah Jenness by the way, she was thrilled to be involved in the beginning! Are you all looking for more yoga teachers, or do you have an abundance?

Sorry it's not 2pm!  That is old, we need to get them to fix that.  

We are meeting wed eve to discuss the afternoon time.  It is still 5pm but someone raised whether it should be changed for daylights savings, as it gets dark around 5pm now.

If you need to print before wed eve, can you just put 8am yoga, noon meditation and afternoon yoga time TBA?   Rain or cold weather location is the interfaith tent.

Sorry, thanks for your patience but we won't have an answer on afternoon yoga till we meet.  Will also be discussing the yoga at GA idea on Wed.  

You are welcome to join our meeting at 8:45pm on Wed if you are interested, otherwise, I will update you after.

For the Oscar Grant Plaza Gazette, should i just say that in general yoga is held in front of Tully's at 5PM if it's weather-permitting... if raining, yoga in the Interfaith/meditation tent? It also says 2PM on the Occupy website now. Is that another new time, or replacing 5PM?
