Subject: the juvy challenge
hello!
i hope this email finds you all well and teaching some yoga!
i am building a resource, outlined below, that i would love your help with.
Mostly my population with the youth this 80% black males. and i want a
list of fabulous male (and female) teachers who will welcome them into
their classes, and also a list of studios that will welcome them.
also any cool donation based, online, or general media resources you know of.
when i infer that the studio cost are high, they get offended that i
think they cant pay. so, i'm not asking for free, but any desire for
work trade can be noted.
please note that it is my absolute opinion that when these youth come
to class, they will be fabulous students. it will take a lot for them
to come, and i really don't expect a big turn out. however, i still
think we have to try.
please reply if you'd like to be featured as a resource for us or have
and ideas.
RESOURCE OUTLINE:
What:Community Liaison for Yoga on the outs.
For: Students of the Detention facility and youth on probation.
What: Create an ongoing resource of yoga classes in the community that
will welcome our population. To be online and printed to be available
to the youth through the probation officers.
Why: This activity is an ongoing effort to make resources available to
the population outside the program and
detention hall.
How: We ask teachers and yoga studios to be willing to be placed on
our site as a resource for the youth. We also list classes by
donation, at community centers, colleges, local studios and via media
ie Television and cable, online resources.
XTRA CREDIT:
sequence a 40 min class with no head down postures or laying down on
the floor until savasana. beginner and injured. usually no wall, no
props.
* when we have 3 or more teachers consistently, we can do laying down.
(please apply!)
i love you guys and gals.
