Hi folks,

Did anyone go to the move-in yesterday? I hope everyone stayed safe and was sad to hear that such violence was used again by OPD.

Also, I'm using this list for a somewhat occupy related thing: I'm part of a group of doulas called the Birth Justice Project, who are starting to provide doula services and women's health education classes at the SF city and county jail and its really taken off with great response from the women who attend the classes. In our first meeting with them, the women asked to have yoga or some other mindfulness class and we're excited to provide.

Unfortunately, my evenings are booked right now so I can't be the one. If anyone on this list is interested in teaching at least once, possibly ongoing, starting Thursday, 2/9 for an hour between 5:30 and 7, please let me know. Women only are allowed in the jail so that's the only qualification. Please pass along to other teachers who you think would be interested. Also, if you're interested in the project in general and think you have something else to offer, I'd love to know that as well. We'll have a website soon and I can share that with you all, too.

Much love,
Brennan

Hi all

I was not at move-in day.  Was hoping to go to the Sunday morn yoga event and meet the people offering it but decided not to after the night's events. Hope everyone is safe.

Can someone give me a quick recap of our last meeting?  I've gotten bits and pieces but would really appreciate a general recap.  Thanks!

I am interested!  Can you give me more details about the project and location?

Thanks

Greetings,

i was there saturday afternoon with family for the rally and march. luckily, we left for concerns of little ones sake, realized, black block tactic squadrons were anticipating a confrontation with police and i didn't want to have my kids in the mix. kinda of disappointed and frustrated at the same time because diverse tactics in black garb seems to expect clashes with the Po Po's and expect overwhelming support from many diverse communities of Oakland and there is still not a connection nor clear support from folks of oakland to embrace a mainly white anarchist sub group that has imposed their sense of "what is good for Oakland" and not be down for the Town folks.

will need to re-evaluate how i can participate and make a difference in supporting a mass movement that truly builds  community, equity and social justice as for now i'm just going to focus on continued support and care for family, mi east oakland community and beyond, unidos los padres de los cuatro puntos cardinales and cultivate the words Brennan had shared with us in our last meeting about the Hebrew sayin "dayenu?" just enough. so with that in mind and not wanting to do too much, what i Am doing right now is just enough, word is bond! continue to spread the Light.

soul revelers 2012,

r.

Glad you and your family stayed safe, Rahul! I agree with you that its a shame that a small group is bringing a lot of their own opinions and way of acting to this generally productive and peaceful movement.

Here's the wikipedia for the phrase Dayenu. Its great you're appreciating that as much as I have!

Heart,
Brennan
