Hey folks, here is information about the community democracy project I'd mentioned in our last yoga meeting. I can't go this Tuesday (Its my birthday!) but would love to see if they want yoga there...
Heart,
Brennan

Dear Community Democracy Project allies,

Our next meeting is coming up fast! As promised, the location and details are below. Please RSVP to this email address if you plan to attend (for planning purposes; you do not have to RSVP to attend). All those who either RSVP or make a request will receive a copy of the full initiative, so you may have an opportunity to review it at your convenience before the meeting. We'll be going over it at the meeting, as well.

Thanks again to all those who joined us at the forum! The brainpower and passion in the room means this exciting work is headed in a great direction. All aboard!

When: Tuesday, January 31st, 7 pm sharp - 9 pm

Where: 420 14th St, Oakland, CA 94612 (The venue is called "Event Center.")

Agenda: This meeting is dedicated to continuing education and discussion about the democratic budgeting initiative. We'll also be outlining our campaign timeline and strategy, and discussing the numerous ways that folks can plug in as we move forward together.
  1. Agenda overview
  2. Group introductions and icebreaker
  3. Brief introduction and welcome to the Community Democracy Project
  4. Presentation and in-depth Q&A about the initiative (This will build on the conversation held at the forum, but newcomers will have an opportunity to get up to speed.)
  5. Campaign next steps and timeline
What is CDP?: The Community Democracy Project promotes active citizenship, community learning, and direct democracy by putting the people in charge of the budget. Our voter initiative will change the Oakland City Charter so that we the people decide how our tax money is spent. There will be empowered neighborhood assemblies throughout the city where people can come together to discuss community issues and determine public priorities by directly voting on the city budget. The time has come for public decision-making to include the voices of all.

Our website is up! More content to come soon. Visit us at http://communitydemocracyproject.org/
