Many of you are already aware of the Upcoming event at San Quentin, on President's day, Feb 20. This is a National Occupy Day in Support of Prisoners. This National Day was called for by Occupy Oakland, and has now spread to at least 12 other cities. The San Quentin event is planned to be a educational, non-confrontational, safe day to support Prisoners. This event has many endorsers.

The organizers would like to have the support of as many people as possible at this event. They particularly request the participation of those who also carry the strong intention for the day to be peaceful and safe, to come out in support of that intention. Occupy4Prisoners has put a Call-Out to the Occupy Oakland Nonviolent Caucus, Occupy Oakland Interfaith Group, Connection Action Project, Seminary of the Streets, Occupy Oakland Safer Spaces, and others to help organize a Call-Out for Participants, Volunteers and a Training. There are several "roles" for volunteers who attend the training, including as general participants, volunteer supporters, "empathy" supporters, and those who wish to help create a "sacred space" away from the crowd. These options will be more fully described at the training. Anyone attending the event is invited to the training, regardless of their willingness to volunteer for any role. The training will take place on Feb 20, the day of the event, at 8 am at Oscar Grant Plaza.
To learn more about the reasons for this request from the organizers of Occupy4Prisoners, please see the following statement:
