To all Occupy groups...

Please read the article at: http://www.ourfuture.org/blog-entry/2012093713/10-ways-rebuild-middle-class

It describes the 10 steps needed to level the playing field and recover our economy:
  • MAKE EVERY JOB A GOOD JOB.
  • FIX THE MINIMUM WAGE.
  • SAVE GOOD PUBLIC AND PRIVATE JOBS.
  • ENSURE HEALTH AND RETIREMENT SECURITY.
  • UPHOLD THE FREEDOM TO JOIN A UNION.
  • MAKE THE MODERN WORKPLACE PRO-FAMILY.
  • STOP WAGE THEFT.
  • REQUIRE THAT YOUR BOSS BE YOUR EMPLOYER.
  • GIVE UNEMPLOYED JOB-SEEKERS A REAL, FRESH START.
  • TOUGHEN LAWS PROTECTING WORKER SAFETY AND HEALTH.
Unfortunately, these will not occur with the Fat Cats owning the politicians. And *IF* they were to occur before we properly prepare the soil, even more jobs will be outsourced to China. These 10 steps are exactly what is needed, but the Fat Cat CEOs hate them. And THEY fund the elections!

You guys can do it, hopefully before November 2012: But before fixing the economy we must first fix our democracy.
  • Public funding of campaigns (mandated, not an option!) Prohibit politicians from taking bribes. We must get the politicians working for *US* rather than those Fat Cats who fund their elections.
  • Redistricting by computer and panel of nonpartisan judges
  • Instant Runoff or proportional voting
  • None-of-the-above ballot choice
  • Blackout of lobbying employment for 5 years after leaving government (members and staff)
  • Prohibit the hiring of lobbyists for staff positions
  • Term limits (no more that 12 years in congress) or forever if convicted of a felony.
  • Must put all finances in a (REAL) blind trust
  • Members cannot buy stock or invest, other than through blind trust
  • No staff bonuses. Salary is enough.
  • Ban voice votes. Restore accountability to the people.
  • Members and staff on same retirement and medical plan as public
  • Members salaries adjusted downward when economy falls
There's more, but this is a good start. Whether R or D, if all they give is lip service, throw them out.
