Okay, first of all... I think that it's fantastic that we're starting
a RWG for those who wish to contribute from their computer.
Personally, I split my time between home and occupation... but I do
feel there is alot that can be done within this group to benefit those
at OccupyKC as well as those around the country and world.

One of the most important activities I think we can perform from home
is the dissemination of information and news. There are still a
surprising number of individuals who are clueless about this movement
and what it's about, and the more you tweet/facebook/shoutinbinary the
more likely someone who has no clue will see your message and look
into the movement.

That's my initial posting - I think we should all toss our idea
noodles into a hat and make some delicious hat spaghetti of ideas to
start this group off.

Chris,
Absolutely.  Stay in touch and we will be figuring out how to include you remote ones in the mix.

Here's an initial list the media group came up with the other day while brainstorming about tasks that could be "crowdsourced" to some degree.

Remote Working Group Tasks

  • Create photo repository - Find and save photos posted online, being careful to document their origin. Seek permission to add them to a public repository (with attribution)? Picasa?
  • Create video repository - Same idea as above. The idea is to save videos before they get taken down, from a news article, for example. And to download all archived livestreams and organize them:
    • GA Collection - Allow people to go back and easily view the video of a particular General Assembly.
    • Day of Learning collection
    • March/Rally collection
  • Gathering social media feedback (ideas, constructive criticism)
  • Collect articles written about Occupy KC and create central repository
  • Create a blogroll and link to every blog post related to OccupyKC
  • General online outreach (Facebook, Twitter, Craiglist, Google+, blogs) & disseminating information and news
Thoughts?

I should be there, Nicole, most likely at the info booth.

Keeping the buzz going is critical. In addition, I struggle with a
concise description of what the movement really means. I know that is
a national struggle but without being able to define it for myself
it's hard to define it for others (especially skeptics). So, might I
also suggest a "one pager" even if it is in draft form that starts to
lay out high-level points?
