Occupy The Dream's primary mission is outreach, engagement, & inclusion of the african american & minority community. The goal is to organize based on Dr Kings vision of economic equality & social justice for all. Occupy The Dream was formed by Dr. Chavis a faith based leader & educator in the african american community who has a history within the Civil Rights Movement along side Dr. King. After observing the actions & energy of The Occupy Wall Street Movement he recognized the time & need to call his community to action & show solidarity within the greater Occupy Wall Street Movement that represents the 99% and also seeks economic equality, social justice & the end of the corporate grip & use of unlimited funds to influence american politics for the benefit of corporations verse people. Occupy The Dream's first call to action encompasses a call on Jan. 16th to Occupy Federal Reserve locations across the country. The Occupy The Dream forum has been organized in conjunction with, and support of this call to action. This forum will consist of community leaders speaking on specific issues such as jobs, important ballot initiatives, & education amongst other topics. The panel will then be available for an open question and discussion session. It's time to let our voices be heard, as often times our community suffers the most or disproportionately when it comes to the housing crisis, predatory lending practices, job & wage inequality, institutional discrimination, lack of educational funding resources, and judicial injustice to name a few. Effective change comes about thru effective elections and legislation. To be represented in change we must be involved and have a voice within all movements for change. Occupy The Dream & Let Your Voice Be Heard!
