I have to say that I agree that from the outside it appears we don't
do much. While I appreciate everything that everyone does, and I know
we have a lot of people who work very hard on behalf of the movement,
I do think that we have too many eggs in one basket.
I feel that we have not, as a team, concentrated on one project at a
time. For a local movement such as this to be successful we need to
have a systematic set of actions, timelines and goals to build a team,
establish presence in the community, and then work on specific
projects.
I know I, for one, get very overwhelmed when I show up at meetings and
find that there are several more ideas/ projects in the works while
projects which I have just begun to think about are not getting fully
developed & are pushed to the back burner.
I would like to see us, as a team, focus on one thing at a time. I
feel it would be the best way to get things done and establish
ourselves.
However, I will be the first to say that one of the reasons our group
is not as strong as it should be is due to a lack of commitment & time
for some. I myself find it very difficult to put in the time that I
would like. I have other commitments in my life... but this is also
why I choose to take on specific tasks which I know I can complete in
my free time. It's easier for people to get things done when they
understand what their roles are and are able to use their strengths
and work towards specific, focused goals.
Just some thoughts. Please keep in mind I am in no way pointing any
fingers, just putting some ideas out there.
I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow morning.
